CHIEF’S WELCOME STATEMENT
The Clayton
Police Department was formed on May 1, 1972 and began serving the Clayton
community two months later with a Chief and two police officers. In the
beginning, the City was a very small municipality. However, over the past
thirty-five years, the City of Clayton has grown to over 10,000 residents
who live in 4100 dwellings located within approximately 5 square miles of
incorporated Clayton. Residents and visitors alike are able to drive on
the 42 miles of roadways and are able to walk, run or ride bicycles on the
17 miles of trails located within the City limits. The Department
currently has 27 sworn, civilian and volunteer personnel committed to
providing the highest quality service with a small town feel to our
residents, businesses and visitors.
The City of
Clayton enjoys a high quality of life with low crime rates. The members
of the police department work hard to provide a full range of services to
residents, services often beyond what other communities are able to
provide. I invite you to explore our offerings and other pertinent
information on this web site and hope that you help us in our effort to
strengthen the Clayton community. In an effort to facilitate
communication, I have an “open door” policy for employees of the police
department. This invitation is also extended to members of the community
as well. Please feel comfortable to contact me at any time during the
normal work hours of Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Chief Dan
