On August 7, 1990, the Clayton City Council adopted Ordinance 276, regarding alarm systems.
This Ordinance requires that all alarm users register with the Clayton Police Department and pay a one time registration fee. The fees (Resolution No. 48-2003, adopted 08-19-03) are $25.00 for a residential alarm system and $50.00 for a commercial alarm system. An Alarm Registration Form can be found on our website within the forms section and returned to our office with the appropriate fee. A copy of this Ordinance may be obtained at the time of registration.
Alarms installed prior to the adoption date of the ordinance, are exempt from the registration fee.
In compliance with this Ordinance, the maximum number of allowable false alarms reported shall be no more than three in any thirty day period with a maximum allowable of no more than four in a twelve month period. For every false alarm in excess of three during any thirty-day period or more than four during a year, the user shall pay a false alarm fee of $50.00.
